Abigail Willett is a multidisciplinary artist born in Dalton, Georgia, currently living and working in Savannah, Georgia. She will receive her BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2025.

As a woman born and raised in the rural south, the lived female experience is central to my studio practice. Through this lens, I explore relationships, childhood, identity and memory to better understand my regional perspective. I employ multidisciplinary practices, from installation to painting, in order to create spaces, portraits and nontraditional landscapes that serve as tools to convey my experiences. Recognizable southern imagery is depicted in a vibrant color palette, drawing viewers in. At the same time, they are confronted with the religious commands, complacent tradition, passive phrases and gendered objectivity that litter the southern landscape. I aim to create conversations surrounding the role of southern women through my work, while also engaging with women from similar backgrounds and providing images where they can find themselves.
